Founded in 1984 and based in Sheffield, UK Forced Entertainment has created dozens of critically acclaimed performance works that have been shown at major festivals and theatres around the world. Making projects through collective improvisation and discussion the group has had a huge impact on the development of a uniquely British style of avant-garde performance. Taking a cue from their provocative name, the group’s work is often concerned with the mechanics of the live-event – playfully disrupting conventions and expectations. The core group of Forced Entertainment comprises Tim Etchells (Artistic Director), Robin Arthur, Richard Lowden (Designer), Claire Marshall, Cathy Naden and Terry O’Connor.
For The Last Adventures performances, Lebanese sound artist Tarek Atoui’s multi-layered sound composition provides a basis for improvisation – by Atoui himself and by invited artist, drummer Uriel Barthélémi.
