THE GREENHOUSE INFECT

THE GREENHOUSE INFECT was initially a live performance directed by Kylie Walters in 2002 at the Théâtre de l”Usine in Geneva. It was performed either with 32 dancers or as a solo danced by Kylie Walters with Jérôme Yemin featuring as the beer drinker on the couch. Vincent Pluss was inspired to adapt the piece for cinema the following year. Synopsis A man sunk into a couch in the middle of the dance floor. Around him a crowd surges, bodies twist and interlace. The festive ambience veers off into the obsessive. A collective fever drags us toward the interior of the body, the heat, breath, the pulse. Individuals melt into the mass. Decomposition. The man in the couch gets up for another beer. There are few markers during this eventful journey, with minimalist narration, synthetic colours filtering through and a current that sweeps you along to the rhythm of Serge Amacker”s music, a crazy desire to move, to grab onto others, to roll around on the ground, to stick to your neighbour, to let go, to allow yourself to be infected until you”re exhausted, until the last beat. A performance repeated and adapted for cinema filmed 5 times by 3 cameras with 32 dancers on 1 night, at an average temperature of 39 degrees. A group experience by Kylie Walters, Vincent Pluss and Serge Amacker.
